I grew up on a farm and we did our canning on a wood cook stove in the milk house! We cooked for the men who helped in the hay fields. Every day we cooked from scratch. We ate lots of eggs. When I asked grandma for a glass of milk, she gave me a glass of cream. We made salad dressing from dry mustard, vinegar and oil. I do not remember eating a sandwich; we didnt have store bought bread, always homemade bread and hot rolls. When the gardens were producing we even had tomatoes for breakfast.
