Cinnamon Roll Turkeys

Cinnamon Roll Turkeys

Description

Turn your favorite cinnamon roll recipe into cute Thanksgiving turkey rolls. This dough is made in a bread machine, and can be assembled the night before. Let come to room temperature before baking. You create the turkeys before serving, or set the ingredients out to let the little ones make their own. Either way, it is a delicious way to start the holiday morning.

Ingredients

  1. Bread Machine Sweet Dough

  2. Filling

  3. Cream Cheese Frosting

    • 1/2 cup butter, room temperature
    • 1/4 cup cream cheese, room temperature
    • 1 1/2 cups Imperial Sugar Confectioners Powdered Sugar
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla
    • pinch salt
  4. To make the turkeys

    • 32 slices cooked bacon, sliced in half
    • 32 candy eyes
    • 8 orange fruit chew candies, sliced on the diagonal
    • 16 red jellybeans or small cinnamon mints

Directions

  1. Add the sweet dough to a bread machine in the order listed. Set to dough cycle.
  2. While the dough is rising, combine the filling ingredients and mix until smooth. Set aside.
  3. When the dough has risen, turn out on a floured board. Roll out into a large rectangle, approximately 16x10 inches. Spread the filling evenly over the dough.
  4. Roll the dough up on the long side. Pinch the edges to close. Use a vary sharp knife and cut into 16 slices. Place slices on two rimmed baking sheets lined with parchment paper that has been sprayed with cooking spray. Cover with a towel and rest for 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  5. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until golden brown. Let cool.
  6. To make the frosting, beat butter and cream cheese in the bowl of an electric mixer on medium-high speed until light and fluffy. Gradually add powdered sugar.
  7. Beat for five minutes, add vanilla and salt. Set aside.
  8. To assemble the turkeys, spread a thick layer of cream cheese frosting over the surface of cinnamon rolls. Place 4 pieces of bacon to make the feathers. Add two eyes, and stand the orange fruit chew so that the point is facing upwards. Add a red candy for the gobbler. Serve and enjoy!
